 NATURAL DYEING

Bagru, located 30 kilometers southwest of Jaipur, has been a centre of natural-dyeing and handblock printing for centuries. The Chhipa community in particular has been involved in this unique craft in Bagru for nearly 300 years, developing a unique printing process with natural vegetable dyes. The unique process of Bagru printing involved pre washing the fabric, then dyeing using naturally occurring colors. The process moves on to printing, where patterns are made first with the gadh block (background), and again with the rehik (fine outlines) and daata (inside filling) blocks in different colors. Our textiles are naturally dyed and handblock printed.
